Applique and Pieced Wall Hangings

Sometimes a quilt can be used as a wall hanging but most of the things I have listed here smaller. I especially enjoy doing raw edge applique and machine quilting. I like to use many different kinds of threads and many times a varigated thread will give in the effect I am looking for. Each one is done with great care.

The piece at the left is one that I created for an art show themed "Silverwhere" The instructions were to create something out of silverware, so I made fabric silverware and put them on a quilted background.

I really like flowers and poppies is one of my favorites. Size of this wall hanging is 20 x24 inches. The background is machine quilted with a very tight meadering pattern. The poppies have many different colors in each one.

Made from batik strips. The tan background sets off the pinwheels. The outside border is a blue batik. This can also be used as a table runner. 22 x 51 inches

Multicolored wall hanging made out of batiks. A piece that has a lovely and fun flavor. Made of 100% cotton fabrics. It is pieced using many shapes and colors. Machine quilting is done in a large meandering pattern. Outside border is black with binding from batik pieces.

Flowers are my favorites and tulips in the spring are so delightful. These tulips are in shades of purple and the lower piece is a batik. The open areas are machine quilted very closely with a meandering pattern.

Sunflower Wall Hanging 3D

Sunflower Wall Hanging or Table Runner -3D

This item can be used both as a wall hanging or a table runner. The ends have patchwork squares with maple leaves appliqued on. There are 3 sunflowers in the middle all having depth to them. The surround leaves were also appliqued on the background which is a batik blue. 42" X 18". The binding has mitered corners and was stiched on by hand. A very classy piece which I enjoyed making.

This wall hanging will come alive hanging in your home. The center vase and flowers are appliqued on. I used metallic thread in some of the flowers. Buttons were used on some flower centers. The outside border squares are from green and blue coordinating fabric. The back has a sleeve to hang on a rod. The wall hanging is machine quilted and the binding is put on by hand with with mitered corners.

The technique is machine appliqué with machine quilting. The fabrics are 100% quality cotton.
